Qatar Rail Cyber Security Operations Centre ready for World Cup

Doha: As part of its readiness to provide a safe travel experience for fans of the 2022 World Cup, Dr. Abdulla bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Director General and CEO of Qatar Railways (Qatar Rail) visited Qatar Rail’s new Cyber ​​Security Operations Center (SOC).

During his visit, Al Subaie was briefed on the key tasks and functions of the new centre, and was presented with a model cyber security attack test case and how the center handles such attacks and provides a real-time response to them.

On the sidelines of the visit, which was also attended by numerous representatives of Qatar Rail and Malomacia, Al Subaie acknowledged the team members leading the project for their efforts and valuable contributions.

The Cyber ​​Security Operations Center was recently established by Qatar Rail in collaboration with Malomatia, a leading provider of technology services and solutions. The establishment of the center is aligned with Qatar Rail’s strategy to increase the readiness of operational systems for cyber security by applying the latest technology to monitor cyber attacks and address possible cyber security threats.

On this occasion, Director of Information Technology at Qatar Rail, Aisha Al Rumaihi, said: “The Cyber ​​Security Operations Center is a significant addition to our cyber security infrastructure at Qatar Rail. The Cyber ​​Security Operations Center is one of the key compliance requirements of the National Cyber ​​Security Agency (NCSA) and plays a key role in cyber security readiness by protecting our systems and increasing our resilience ahead of the start of the 2022 World Cup.

She added: “The risk of cyber attacks increases during major events such as the World Cup, the SOC deploys state-of-the-art technology to monitor cyber security threats and react in real-time to address and resolve any potential threats that may target the Qatar network Rail. .”

The Qatar Rail Cyber ​​​​Security Operations Center brings together expertise and state-of-the-art technology to monitor cyber-attacks on the Doha Metro’s systems and network, to improve passenger safety, reliability and availability of its transport services, as well as provide a seamless travel experience for fans during major events, especially the 2022 World Cup.

The SOC team works around the clock (24/7) to monitor and respond to threats as efficiently as possible.
