(SAVANNAH, GA) Seimitsu will present a free virtual workshop on Thursday, October 6th to help small business owners learn about cybersecurity threats and protections. The one-hour ZOOM class will be hosted by the Savannah Business Center and SCORE, and will be held from noon to 1 p.m.

The session will be led by retired Lt. Col. Scott Scheidt, chief security officer of Seimitsu, a family-owned IT and high-speed broadband business founded in Savannah 38 years ago.

Retired Lt. Col. Scott Scheidt, Seimitsu’s chief security officer

His presentation titled “Protecting Your Business Through Strong Cybersecurity” is designed to help business owners:
• discern if their information is on the dark web.
• understand the cost of a cyber breach.
• discover the different ways in which an organization can be at risk.
• learn the measures to take to better protect your organizations for customers, as well as internal and remote workforce members.

“Cyber attacks happen every 39 seconds and as a small business you need to protect yourself, your staff and your customers,” said Scheidt. “Business owners work endlessly to build the trust of their customers and employees and if there is a breach of private information, there is nothing more justified than having to send a mass email to all of your customers and employees that your customer’s private information has been breached.”

Scheidt says that ‘cleaning up’ from a cyber attack can also be expensive.

“This workshop will guide business owners through ways they can mitigate a potential threat and help them identify areas of vulnerability and exposure to potential threats,” he said.
