Governments under attack must think defensively

In this video for Help Net Security, Tom Van de Wiele, chief security consultant, Cyber Security Services at WithSecure, talks about cyber threats targeting government organizations.

Attacks on governments are nothing new, they have been an interesting target since they existed, just because not everyone agrees on how things are run. The only thing that has changed is the asymmetry between the attacker and the offender; before the dawn of the computer, a large group of people had to be enraged in order to be heard or to encourage change.

With the rise of the Internet and connected devices and our reliance on Internet services, it doesn’t take a large group or even an expensive computer to attempt some cyber attacks.
